Retail Operations Manager - Gift Shop
Job
Purpose:
Oversees
all aspects of retails operations including buying, new product
development, inventory management, merchandise display, budgeting,
business planning, pricing policies and supervision of staff.
Essential
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Interview,
hire, and train employees and evaluate their performance.
- Motivate,
coach and counsel employees. Abilityto negotiate, mediate
and resolve sensitive issues.
- Develop
work schedules, sign and track time sheets and leave records.
Process all new hire and separation forms.
Conduct weekly meetings with staff to communicate information
and receive feedback.
- Formulate
pricing policies on merchandise and develop plans to increase
shop revenues.
- Maintain
merchandise control and oversee all buying and display of
merchandise.
- Meet
with the Vice President of Operations to review ongoing
activities and discuss new initiatives to increase sales
and expand product market.
- Prepare
monthly sales reconciliation to ensure that the General
Ledger systems are in agreement.
- Track
and process all Internet orders.
- Provide
reports and analyzes for key indicators of retail operations
performance (i.e. inventory turns, sales, product mix and
average sales per visitor).
- Prepare
annual department budget for review and approval. Maintain
budget within established guidelines.
- Coordinate
and oversee bi-annual inventory of museum shop and storage
areas (on-site and off-site).
- Manage
all aspects of planning product development strategies from
concept to completion.
- Formulate
business and inventory plans for product development merchandise
line based upon self-conducted market research.
- Negotiate
production costs with vendors.
- Other
Skills and Abilities: Proficient MS office skills needed
and knowledge of CAM Data systems is highly desired.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a college or university, preferably
in business or marketing and three to five years demonstrated
retail experience in a store setting. As well as knowledge
of related copyright and licensing regulations.
