Centennial Park Fourth of July Celebration

ATLANTA-- The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) announced today the 2001 schedule for its Summer Parks Concerts. An Atlanta summer tradition, the ASO performs free outdoor concerts annually in the parks of Atlanta and Fulton County.

For the third year, the ASO presents its popular Bark in the Park concert at Piedmont Park's Oak Hill on Sunday, August 12. Besides animal-themed musical selections, pet lovers and families are invited to bring their pets to the concert to watch and participate in pre-concert dog activities including dog and disc demonstrations by the Greater Atlanta Dog and Disc Club and WoofSports USA and a costume contest for pets.

Music Conductor-Designate Robert Spano salutes Independence from the podium as he leads the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in the noted Fourth of July celebration in Centennial Park on Wednesday, July 4.

The locations and dates for this year's schedule of eight concerts are Shannon Mall (Sunday, June 24, 7:30 p.m.); Roswell City Hall Parking Lot, Roswell (Saturday, June 30, 7:30 p.m.); Centennial Park, Atlanta (Wednesday, July 4, 7:30 p.m.); Piedmont Park Oak Hill, Atlanta (Sunday, July 8, 7:30 p.m.); East Point Commons Area (Friday, July 13, 7:30 p.m.); William Payne House, Sandy Springs (Sunday, July 15, 6:30 p.m); Bark in the Park concert at Piedmont Park Oak Hill, Atlanta (Sunday, August 12, 7:30 p.m.); and Wills Park Equestrian Center, Alpharetta (Thursday, August 16, 7:30 p.m.).
