War is known for their ability to fuse elements of funk, rock, R&B;, and reggae. The band also was known for breaking down cultural barriers and transcending racial problems with their multi-ethnic line-up. Their socio-politically driven lyrics have helped War sell over 50 million records to date.
Average White Band, also known as AWB, is a funk and R&B; band from Scotland. The band scored a series of hits between 1974 and 1980 and still performs to date.
AWB was the band’s 1974 release which sky rocketed them to fame. The album topped Billboard’s Pop Albums and Black Albums charts. The album featured the hit single, “Pick Up the Pieces”.
