Mark your calendars now
for an Atlanta Spring Tradition you won't want to miss!
The
Edward Alsop House,
490 West Paces Ferry Road, Buckhead, Atlanta, Georgia, has
been selected as the 2002 ASA
Decorators' Show House.
Built in 1912 as a summer cottage for Mr. Alsop, the noted
architect Neel Reid was later commissioned in 1914 to design
and build additions and alterations creating a more spacious
and traditional home well suited to its historic neighborhood.
Through
the years, additions to the home resulted in the current 17,000
square foot Italianate-style villa that sits comfortably on
2 plus acres of lush grounds. Eleven fireplaces, an old world
library, two master suites and many European-style architectural
materials and designs grace the home.
The
32nd Annual Decorators' Show House and Garden Tour opens April
20 through May 12, 2002. The Decorators' Show House features
the creative work of over 30 of the Southeast's finest interior
and landscape designers.The
Decorators' Show House is considered the premier Show House
and Garden Tour in the Southeast, and is one of the oldest
in the United States.
The
Atlanta Symphony Associates Decorators' Show House is one
of the major fundraisers for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
The ASA is comprised of over 750 metro Atlanta men and women
who volunteer their time and talents to support the Atlanta
Symphony Orchestra through fund raising events, community
outreach and educational programs.
