
William Smokey Robinson, Jr. is a soul and R&B; singer-songwriter and producer. Robinson is one of the most notoriously associated figures with Motown Records thus earning him the title of the King of Motown. Robinson recorded thirty-seven Top 40 hits from 1960 to 1987 with The Miracles and as a solo artist. Robinson was once the vice president of Motown from 1961 to 1988 as well. Robinson topped the charts with such singles as, Being With You, Cruisin, and Just to See Her. Robinson’s latest release is 2006’s Timeless Love.
The Empress of Soul, Gladys Knight, is an R&B; and soul singer-songwriter, actress, author, and businesswoman from Atlanta, Georgia. Knight achieved success in the 1960s and 1970s with Motown and Buddah Records. Knight scored top hits with, Every Beat of My Heart, I Heard It Through the Grapevine, If I Were Your Woman, Neither One of Us, Midnight Train to Georgia, I’ve Got to Use My Imagination, and Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me. In 2005, Knight released a best-of album entitled Gold.
